Man Shot During Altercation in Central District

Detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man deceased in Central District neighborhood.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., Dispatch (CARE) received a report of a shooting in the 1800 Block of South Jackson Street.

Police arrived at the apartment building and located an unresponsive 44-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers attempted life-saving measures until Seattle Fire Department arrived. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Despite medical staff's life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

During the initial 911 call an altercation was heard before the shots. The circumstances that led up to the shooting are unknown at this time.

The Homicide Unit will be working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
