Congressman DeSaulnier Announces 2024 Congressional App Challenge

Walnut Creek, CA- Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10) announced he will host the 2024 Congressional App Challenge (CAC), a competition for middle and high school students to highlight their coding and computer science skills by creating original software applications.

Middle and high schoolers who live or attend school in California's 10th Congressional District are invited to register online for the CAC and submit an original software application for mobile, tablet, or other computing devices by 9:00 a.m. on October 24, 2024.

"In our rapidly changing world, supporting STEM education is critical to preparing our young people for the workforce," said Congressman DeSaulnier. "The Congressional App Challenge gives East Bay students the chance to highlight their creativity and hone their skills in coding, and I look forward to seeing the innovative apps that this year's participants design."

Created to encourage participation in computer science and STEM education, the CAC has inspired tens of thousands of students from all 50 states to use their creativity and technological skills to build new apps.

The winning app from CA-10 will be selected by a panel of local expert judges, honored by Congressman DeSaulnier, and featured on the House of Representatives website and on display in the U.S. Capitol. The winner will also be invited to the 2025 #HouseofCode celebration in Washington, D.C. with other student coders from across the country.
