Portions of Several Streets to Close Beginning Week of December 16

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that portions of several streets will close beginning the week of December 16. The closures are as follows:

  • Southbound 56th Street between South Street and Normal Boulevard will close beginning Tuesday, December 17, for Lincoln Electric System utility pole replacements. This work is scheduled to be completed by Monday, December 23. The recommended detour is Normal Boulevard to 48th Street to Van Dorn Street.
  • Northbound Cotner Boulevard between Vine and "X" streets will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, for water main repair. The recommended detour is Vine Street to 66th Street to Holdrege Street.
  • 11th Street between "O" and "N" streets will close beginning Saturday, December 21, for crane work. This work is scheduled to be completed by Monday, December 23. The recommended detour is "O" Street to 12th Street to "N" Street. StarTran Routes 13-South 13th, 27-North 27th, 40-Heart Hospital, 44-"O" Street, 49-University Place, 51-West "A", 52-Gaslight, and 53-SouthPointe will be affected by this closure. These bus routes will stop at the northwest corner of 11th and "L" streets during this work.

Digital signs will alert traffic to upcoming work and closures. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around these closures. LTU appreciates the public's patience during these closures and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
