Mantella said the second ingredient is the range of opportunities ahead, including experiential learning, active classrooms, student organizations, and the supporters who cheer students along the way.

Discovering new things and overcoming challenges builds strength, she said.

"Building strength also opens the doors to discovering more about yourself, such as building new connections, uncovering new interests and realizing that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to. Education isn't just something that happens to you; it's building your life," Mantella said.
