Rosen Helps Pass Bipartisan Bill in Senate to Improve Health Outcomes for Expectant Mothers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped pass bipartisan legislation in the Senate to improve maternal health for pregnant and postpartum women. The Connected MOM Act, which Senator Rosen co-sponsored, would require the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide a report on the coverage of remote physiologic devices that monitor a patient's health during pregnancy. It would also require the report to include recommendations on addressing barriers to access this coverage. This bipartisan bill now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.

"Expectant mothers deserve access to the best health care available," said Senator Rosen. "I'm glad to see the Senate pass this bill I co-sponsored, which will help increase access to technology needed to improve health care for women throughout their pregnancy."

Senator Rosen has been leading the fight to increase access to quality, affordable health care. Earlier this year, she helped introduce legislation to make Affordable Care Act Tax Credits permanent and prevent health care costs from rising. Senator Rosen helped pass legislation to give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices and cap insulin at $35/month. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen held a roundtable to discuss efforts to improve health care access for veterans and helped introduce bipartisan legislation to officially authorize the construction of a new veterans hospital in Reno.
