At approximately 6:30 AM on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff's Central Patrol Deputies responded to Kaiser South after being alerted by hospital staff of an adult female being dropped off at the hospital with numerous suspicious injuries, who was pronounced deceased by hospital staff a short time later. Deputies learned the victim lived on the 6300 block of Leola Way in South Sacramento, where they determined the crime likely occurred.
Sheriff's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, began their investigation, interviewed witnesses, and began to gather evidence. Based on their investigation, Detectives determined that the victim's 29-year-old boyfriend, Paul Barclay, was responsible for her death. Barclay was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody ineligible for bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.
Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office in accordance with their protocols.
