Everytown Responds to First Vice Presidential Debate Between Governor Walz and JD Vance

WASHINGTON - Today, after the first Vice Presidential debate between Governor Tim Walz and Senator JD Vance, Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action released the following statements:

"During the debate, voters heard two starkly different approaches to America's gun violence crisis: JD Vance, who recently called school shootings a 'fact of life' and thinks the solution to the problem is more guns, or Tim Walz, who will work alongside Vice President Harris to make sure our kids come home safe every night," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "As we head into the final sprint, Everytown and our grassroots army will do everything in our power to defeat the Trump/Vance ticket and their extreme 'guns everywhere' agenda."

"While Governor Walz continues to lead with hope, empathy, and common sense, JD Vance still refuses to support bipartisan gun safety policies that will actually keep our schools and communities safe," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "With just five weeks left until Election Day, our volunteers are going all out to make sure voters know exactly what's at stake this November, and vote Vice President Harris and Governor Walz into the White House."

"When our safety is on the ballot, the stakes couldn't be higher. But the choice is simple: One campaign is fighting to protect us from gun violence while the other does nothing," said Sam Mell, a Student Demand Action National Organizing Board Member from North Carolina. "Vance showed his true colors tonight, making it very clear that Gen Z cannot sit on the sidelines and allow him and Trump to carry out their extremist agenda. My generation is locked in to send Vice President Harris and Governor Walz to the White House."
