Gear up for safe cycling at Huntsville Parks & Recreation’s Bicycle Safety Rodeo

Published on August 7, 2024

Young bicycle riders eager to sharpen their two-wheel skills are invited to join Huntsville Parks & Recreation for a Bicycle Safety Rodeo on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The free event is from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Challenger Elementary School, 13555 Chaney Thompson Road SE. Tailored for children ages 6-12, the rodeo aims to promote safe riding practices among budding cyclists.

Participants will engage in interactive sessions covering safety rules and riding without training wheels. They can also have their bicycles and helmets inspected by experts. The hands-on approach ensures that every child is equipped with the knowledge and skills to ride safely.

"Cooler weather is coming soon, and more families will be getting out and riding their bicycles," said James Gossett, Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director. "It's important for youngsters to be confident in their abilities and practice safety before hitting the trails and greenways."

Parents are encouraged to bring their children and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to enhance their cycling know-how. The event is free, but registration is required.
