Nearly 350 seniors gathered for a festive Thanksgiving luncheon at The Panorama Room for the 12th annual event honoring DCHA's older residents.
The luncheon is intended to foster a sense of community among senior residents. The event is about providing an opportunity for them to connect with one another and build lasting relationships.
Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed catered traditional Thanksgiving dishes and desserts such as pie, collard greens, and cranberry sauce. Kelly's Kickin Cuisine and Runway Caterers presented the delicious food.
After eating, some of the attendees listened to live music and strutted on the dance floor. Some DCHA staff and police officers followed suit and showed off some dance moves with residents. At one point, staff presented a gift basket full of festive treats to one lucky resident.
Other attendees flocked to the photo booth with various props such as sunglasses and signs to take silly pictures. Executive Director Keith Pettigrew stopped by to greet attendees and join in on the fun.
In addition to all the fun, several providers tabled the event providing resources and services for seniors and families in the District.
The annual Thanksgiving luncheon highlights DCHA's commitment to supporting and honoring its senior residents.
