Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested Following a Shooting Incident in Roxbury

Investigation Update: On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, detectives assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) were informed that Dekara Anderson, 49, was taken into custody in Nashua, New Hampshire. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on a warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for Armed Assault to Murder a Victim Sixty Years of Older, Assault and Battery with a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Second Offense, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Armed Career Criminal Level 3.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 12:57 AM, on Tuesday July 9, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 73 Clifford Street for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
