Dr. Daniel Lundberg, Director of the School of Science, Technology, Accessibility, Mathematics, and Public Health, is pleased to announce that Gallaudet will continue to take part in the District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium, an ongoing collaboration of area colleges and universities led by American University.

The District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium has funded several projects and events on campus, including this Telescope Night in the fall of 2023.

For the period of June 2024 to the end of May 2025, the consortium subaward will provide $20,000 for interns working in Gallaudet science laboratories with Biology and Chemistry faculty, as well as in the Tinkerlab with faculty from the Art and Media Design Program. In addition, $4,500 has been granted for Tinkerlab supplies, such as 3D printer filament. "The Tinkerlab needs to purchase materials that are consumed every year, so this is a critical source of funding," he says.

The consortium subaward also provides $4,500 to Model Secondary School for the Deaf's physical computing and robotics class to purchase parts, supplies, tools, software, and electronics. It is important to support STEM education at our neighboring secondary school, Lundberg says.
