Small-business owners will have an opportunity to learn how to prepare and submit their Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR) paperwork Monday, Dec. 9.
Kenny Overby, P.J. Burns and Devan Costa-Cargill will lead a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled "Complete Your BOIR Paperwork With the Wyoming SBDC Network" from noon-1 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The webinar is designed to have clients leave with their BOIR submitted. The purpose of a BOIR is to prevent money laundering and other financial crimes by requiring companies to provide identifying information about their beneficial owners. Attendees are asked to bring copies of their government IDs for each owner of their companies as well as their EINs (employee identification numbers).
Overby is the Wyoming SBDC Network's regional director for Goshen and Laramie counties. His entrepreneurial journey began at age 15 when he started his first business. Before coming to UW, he spent two years with the Colorado SBDC Network and brings experience in growing from startup to multiple locations, marketing and employee management.
Burns is the Wyoming SBDC Network's regional director for Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties. She has spent much of her career advising and advocating for small businesses in her roles at chambers of commerce and economic development organizations. She has a background in marketing, human resources, strategic planning, leadership and management.
Costa-Cargill is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties. She launched her consulting career in the public school system, specifically in special education. For the past 10 years, Costa-Cargill has operated her own small business, providing consultation and enrichment to families and early educators. Her work with the Wyoming SBDC Network began in April 2021, advising small-business startups through the first important steps of their journey.
