Hoyer Statement on Israel's Retaliatory Strike Against Iran
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today regarding Israel's retaliatory, targeted strike on Iran:
"The United States continues to stand with Israel as it exercises its absolute right to defend itself and its people. Israel's recent precise strikes on military targets in Iran are an appropriate and direct response to Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel earlier this month with nearly 200 ballistic missiles.
"From attacking Israel to supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other terrorist proxies, Iran continues its genocidal mission to destroy the State of Israel. No nation in the world would be expected to sit idly by in the face of these existential threats, and neither should Israel. America will not yield in its support for Israel as it counters Iran's decades-long campaign of terror and destruction.
"Iran and its proxies must stop further violence. If they don't, the State of Israel can and must take necessary action to protect its people and its own existence."
