Impact Center Partners with Community Organizations

Muskingum University's Impact Center has partnered with a variety of regional organizations, hosting on-campus events and engaging in the community.

"The Impact Center is dedicated to cultivating relationships in our local community and beyond," said Molly Dunn, Executive Director of the Impact Center. "As an educational leader in our region, external partnerships allow us to help support workforce and economic development needs while providing access to career development opportunities for our students."

The partnerships have impacted a wide variety of audiences:

  • The Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce held its May 14 Board Meeting on campus in the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex. Members visited with Muskingum President Sue Hasseler, learned about mutually beneficial grants and projects that are positively impacting the local workforce, and toured the facility.
  • On June 11, Muskingum served as one of the 14 stops for Groundwork Ohio's "Roadshow Listening Tour" on improving early childhood development. A child advocacy organization, Groundwork Ohio is traveling statewide to gather input from childcare experts, educators, and other stakeholders to share with the Ohio governor's administration and the state legislature. President Hassler welcomed the gathering. Muskingum faculty and staff attended to learn more about child advocacy and connect with fellow professionals in the early childhood development field.
  • On June 5, Muskingum hosted an "Exploring College Opportunities" visit by the Muskingum County Social Justice Coalition's Career Connections Day Camp. The group of eighth-grade students of color toured the campus and learned about educational and career options.
  • The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) held a regional recruitment and testing session for prospective applicants at the Bullock Complex on June 20. Interested individuals had the opportunity to learn about OSHP careers and complete an application, written test, and physical fitness test in one stop.
  • The Impact Center served as a guest presenter at the Daybreak Rotary of Zanesville and at the Muskingum Valley Human Resource Management Association (MVHRMA). Both presentations provided local leaders with information on new distinctive programs offered by the University and invited future collaboration and partnership.

The Impact Center serves as a career catalyst for students and as a connector for employers, providing comprehensive career education, experiential learning, community partnerships, and student engagement in preparation for employment, as well as support for regional workforce and economic development initiatives.
