Annual conference draws top tech companies from across the globe

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan - Opportunities to join the growing Uzbek technology workforce and the competitive edge job seekers gain with professional certifications are the focus of activities by CompTIA, the world's leading information technology (IT) certification and training body, at ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN 2024.

More than 200 companies from 50-plus countries are expected to participate in ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN 2024, set for 17-20 September in Tashkent.

Jason Moss, CompTIA senior vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is among the scheduled conference speakers. The session on "The role of IT certificates in ensuring youth employment in the IT sector," part of the IT Education and Freelancing Forum, is scheduled for 19 September.

"CompTIA is excited to participate in ICTWEEK and eager to share the message that careers in technology are within the reach of anyone," Moss said. "Many people think their background, experience or skills leave them unqualified to work in tech. This 'confidence gap' discourages them from considering tech as a career option. The reality is that many have the creativity, drive and skills to succeed."

Employers increasingly see the benefits of building a larger and more inclusive talent pipeline by relying on alternative pathways into technology jobs. Professional certifications are one such alternative option. Certification such as those offered by CompTIA validate an individual's ability to perform core technology functions in a range of areas, including tech support, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data and networking. More than three million people around the world have earned CompTIA certifications.

Industry-recognized certifications to validate skills continue to gain traction among hiring employers. A 2024 CompTIA report found that for 82% of companies, industry-recognized technical certifications factor heavily into their hiring of tech talent.[1]

ICTWEEK combines several conferences, exhibitions and workshops on a variety of topics including venture programs, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, IT solution providers, IT investment opportunities and more. The ICT Expo offers attendees an opportunity network and collaborate with representatives from foreign and domestic IT companies across multiple industries. The event is supported by the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
