Police investigate motor vehicle collision GO#23-122195

Police is investigating a collision that occurred in Halifax earlier tonight.

At approximately 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision between a Halifax Transit bus and a car in the 0-100 block of the Bedford Highway. A vehicle driven by a 31-year-old woman travelling north on Joseph Howe Drive, merging onto the Bedford Highway, collided with a Halifax Transit bus travelling in the same direction on the Bedford Highway.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment of what are believed to be life-threatening injuries. No one on the bus was seriously injured.

The Bedford Highway was closed to all traffic for several hours while the Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened.

The collision remains under investigation and no charges have been laid.
