16@95 Improvement Projects Traffic Impact Report❗

POTENTIAL TRAFFIC IMPACTS RELATED TO CONSTRUCTION
OF 16@95 IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will close interstate lanes and ramps at the locations below for the 16@95 Improvement Projects, which will widen I-16 and reconstruct the I-16/I-95 Interchange. The lane closures are necessary for widening activities for I-16, bridge work on I-95, and bridge work at the I-16/I-516 Interchange. Daytime Closures

Monday, June 24, through Saturday, June 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Daily)
Intermittent right- and left-lane closures at the following locations
  • I-16 eastbound from the I-16/I-95 Interchange (MP 157) to I-16/I-516 Interchange (MP 164)
Monday, June 24, through Saturday, June 29, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Daily)
Intermittent right- and left-lane closures at the following locations
  • I-516 westbound at the I-16 Interchange from MP 5 to MP 6
  • I-516 eastbound at the I-16 Interchange from MP 6 to MP 5
Nighttime Closures

  • I-16 westbound from the I-16/I-516 Interchange (MP 164) to the I-16/I-95 Interchange (MP 157)
  • I-16 eastbound from the I-16/I-95 Interchange (MP 157) to the I-16/I-516 Interchange (MP 164)

Double-lane closures at the following locations
  • I-95 northbound @ I-16 overpass (MP 98 to MP 100)
  • I-95 southbound @ I-16 overpass (MP 101 to MP 98)
LONG-TERM CLOSURE

June 26, 2022, through May 31, 2025
Tremont Road under I-16 (Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Tremont Road north of I-16 should take Telfair Road northbound, turn right on West Gwinnett Street, turn right onto I-516 eastbound, then exit at Tremont Road (Exit 4)
  • Motorists traveling on Tremont Road south of I-16 should take I-516 westbound to West Gwinnett Street (Exit 6), turn left on West Gwinnett Street, then left on Telfair Road to access Tremont Road north of I-16
Independence Day holiday work restrictions will be in place from Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at noon to Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 10 p.m. No road closures or work that restricts or interferes with traffic will be conducted during this time frame.

ADVANCE NOTICE & DETOURS

Note: The following detours will be scheduled so they will not conflict with one another. Closures and detours will be coordinated to ensure proper maintenance of traffic. No more than one ramp in the I-95/I-16 Interchange or the I-16/I-516 Interchange will be closed at a time.

Monday, July 8, through Saturday, August 3, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-16 eastbound to I-516 westbound ramp (Exit 164B) (Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-16 eastbound should take the I-516 eastbound ramp (Exit 164A), then exit at US 17/US 80/Ogeechee Road (Exit 3), turn left off the ramp, then turn left to access I-516 westbound.
Monday, July 8, to Saturday, July 20, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-95 northbound to I-16 eastbound ramp (Exit 99A) (Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-95 northbound should continue past the I-16/I-95 Interchange, exit at US Hwy 80 (Exit 102) turn left off the ramp, then turn left to access I-95 southbound, then take the I-16 eastbound.
Wednesday, July 10, to Saturday, August 3, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-95 northbound to I-16 westbound ramp (Exit 99B) (Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-95 northbound should continue past the I-16/I-95 Interchange, exit at US Highway 80 (Exit 102) turn left off the ramp, then turn left to access I-95 southbound, then take the I-16 westbound ramp (Exit 99).
Wednesday, July 10, to Saturday, August 3, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-95 southbound to I-16 westbound ramp (Exit 99B) (Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-95 southbound should continue past the I-16/I-95 Interchange, exit at SR 204 (Exit 94) turn left off the ramp, then turn left to access I-95 northbound, then take the I-16 westbound ramp (Exit 99B).
Temporary, 80-hour closure of Chatham Parkway at I-16 is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 26, and end at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 ("Complete Closure Period").

During the 80-hour Complete Closure Period, all ramps on and off I-16 will remain open, except as noted below.
  • During the duration of the closure, traffic will be impacted as follows: (Map)
    • I-16 eastbound off-ramp traffic will only be able to turn south onto Chatham Parkway
    • Northbound Chatham Parkway traffic approaching I-16 will only be able to turn right onto I-16 eastbound
    • I-16 westbound off-ramp traffic will only be able to turn north onto Chatham Parkway and the I-16 westbound off-ramp will be closed to traffic when I-16 westbound is closed at Chatham Parkway
    • Southbound Chatham Parkway traffic approaching I-16 will only be able to turn right onto I-16 westbound
Friday, July 26, through Saturday, July 27, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. (Nightly)
Saturday, July 27, through Monday, July 29, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
Monday, July 29, through Tuesday, July 30, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-16 eastbound will be closed at Chatham Parkway (Map)
  • Motorists traveling east on I-16 should take the Chatham Parkway exit (Exit 162), continue straight across Chatham Parkway to the I-16 eastbound ramp.
  • I-16 westbound will be closed at Chatham Parkway (Map)
  • Motorists traveling west on I-16 should take I-516 eastbound (Exit 164A) to U.S. Highway 17 (Exit 3), turn right onto US 17 and follow the detour to SR 307/Dean Forest Road, then turn right onto SR 307/Dean Forest Road and continue to I-16, then turn left onto I-16.
Note: The following detours will be scheduled so they will not conflict with one another. Closures and detours will be coordinated to ensure proper maintenance of traffic. No more than one direction of I-16 will be closed at a time.

Tuesday, July 30, through Monday, August 5, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)
  • I-16 eastbound will be closed at Chatham Parkway (Map)
  • Motorists traveling east on I-16 should take the Chatham Parkway exit (Exit 162), continue straight across Chatham Parkway to the I-16 eastbound ramp.
  • I-16 westbound will be closed at Chatham Parkway (Map)
  • Motorists traveling west on I-16 should take I-516 eastbound (Exit 164A) to U.S. Highway 17 (Exit 3), turn right onto US 17 and follow the detour to SR 307/Dean Forest Road, then turn right onto SR 307/Dean Forest Road and continue to I-16, then turn left onto I-16.
Advisory: Exact time may change due to weather conditions. There may be intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures that occur within the work zone in addition to this notice. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
