Invitation to Inverness Strategy Drop-In event

A major public event is putting development and investment in the City of Inverness under the spotlight. The Inverness Strategy event to be held at the Town House on the afternoon of 26 November aims to tell people what's going on across the City and area, with the chance to talk to those delivering change on the ground.

The event, which is accompanied by an online StoryMap, focuses on the City's role as the beating heart of the Highland region, and outlines the exciting changes underway and on the horizon.

The Partners behind the Inverness Strategy are inviting everyone with an interest to a drop-in showcase event to find out more about plans afoot to reinforce the city as the hub of economic, social and cultural activity in Highland.

This public face-to-face event follows on from the launch of the Inverness Strategy 'StoryMap ', which tracks the huge amount of activity underway across the city and wider area. It is a chance for people to find out more about what is happening across the city and area and an opportunity to comment on a developing vision for the future.

City Leader Councillor Ian Brown said: "The Inveness Strategy is very much a collective approach. A partnership vision, that tracks projects that are already delivering on priorities for the future, and bring partners together to realise opportunities."

The Inverness Strategy platform is engaging a wide range of partners including:Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, Network Rail, City BID, Visit Inverness Loch Ness and Inverness Chamber of Commerce, Inverness Community Partnership and Inverness Community Council Forum.

The event opens at 2pm in Inverness Town House on Tuesday 26 November and runs until 7pm.

It will be interactive, with stalls to visit and representatives from all partners will be present to talk about projects and answer any questions.

Key stall holders include:

  • Inverness Castle and Levelling Up Fund projects (Bught Park, Northern Meeting Park)
  • Inverness & Highland City Region Deal.
  • Green Freeport, climate & energy
  • Development Planning (future land use)
  • Housing Development
  • Sustainable travel and transport
  • Network Rail
  • Community Regeneration Funding
  • Inverness Community Partnership

Councillor Brown added "Inverness is a great place to be, and we believe it can be the envy of any other city in Scotland with respect to the development actually being delivered at present. Bringing together the agencies, businesses and community partners who are delivering on priorities for the future, the emerging Strategy will lay the groundwork of a collective vision. This partnership approach aims to improve the delivery of current and emerging plans and projects to ensure Inverness remains Highland's prime destination for those who live, work, visit and invest here."

"We believe this coordinated overview will help improve public awareness of "what's happening across Inverness" and how we work together to make the most of opportunities. The StoryMap includes opportunities for the public to provide views and feedback and this drop-in event is another way to engage and pass on comments."

Anyone unable to attend can still get involved by visiting the Storymap
