Valentina Matvienko: Parliamentary Diplomacy Remains to be a Vital Tool for Fruitful Cooperation Among Nations

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of International Day of Parliamentarism.

She noted that this holiday united legislators from all over the world, symbolized a universal respect towards diplomatic traditions and parliamentary institutions and served as a reminder of the ideals of constructive dialogue, sovereign equality and the cultural and civilizational diversity of the modern world.

The Speaker of the Federation Council recalled that this celebration had been established in 2017 as the initiative of the IPA CIS. Years later, parliamentary diplomacy remained a vital tool for productive interaction among states. Moreover, its significance in consolidating the global community, strengthening trust and mutual understanding was increasing.

"In such conditions, there is growing recognition within the parliamentary community of the advantages of a just, multipolar world. Voices in support of finding a balance of interests for all nations are becoming louder. BRICS serves as a bright example of successful interstate cooperation. Within the framework of the Russian chairmanship in this association, we will continue to promote international relations through parliamentary channels, strengthening ties with developing countries and their integration associations," stated the head of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament in her congratulatory message.

Valentina Matvienkoreminded that for a thorough discussion of these issues, fellow legislators were invited to the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, as well as to the meeting of the IPA CIS Council, which would take place in July this year in Saint-Petersburg.
