WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) recognized Varun Singh, a junior from Stuart, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Florida's 21st Congressional District. Singh developed MediTap, an app designed to help individuals monitor their medication intake.
"Competitions like the Congressional App Challenge aren't just about coding or gadgets-they're about problem-solving and taking action," said Congressman Mast. "MediTap is a practical, forward-thinking solution that could save lives and help countless families nationwide. I'm proud that it originated right here in our district, and I can't wait to see what Varun does next."
MediTap was inspired by the experiences of Singh's mother, who works in healthcare. The app uses QR codes or NFC tags on medication bottles to provide vital information such as prescribed dosages and timing. The app also sends reminders to ensure users stay on schedule.
Singh's app will be featured on House.gov for one year and remain showcased on CongressionalAppChallenge.us indefinitely. The competition also offers participants resources such as waiving copyright registration application fees under the ARTS Act. Thank you to the faculty at Indian River State College for their cooperation and participation in our assessment process.
High school students interested in joining the 2025 Congressional App Challenge should watch for further information on our website.
