Okeeheelee Nature Center is a Hoot

​Okeeheelee Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in Okeeheelee Park at 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard, west of West Palm Beach. For more information on Okeeheelee Nature Center and other county-operated nature centers, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please register online at www.pbcparks.com under "Online Services" click on Register/Pay for Program, or visit the nature center to register and make payment. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form before each program. Activities promote environmental awareness, conservation, and recreation.

Join an ONC naturalist, as we celebrate International Owl Awareness Day! Participants will be taken on a guided hike with our ambassador Screech Owl, and discover other wildlife on the trails! Participants will learn about other native raptors in South Florida and how to identify owls by their "hoots!" Please bring binoculars, otherwise loaners will be available.


ARCHERY FOR BEGINNERS
Tuesday, August 6, 10 - 11:30 a.m.Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)

Join USA Archery certified instructors and learn the basics of archery, from safety to shooting, and develop a great new skill to focus your mind on a single target. All equipment is provided. Space is limited, so register today!

LEAPING LIZARDSSaturday, August 10, 2 - 3:30 p.m.Families/all ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)Join us as we celebrate World Lizard Day, with special guests from the South Florida Herpetological Society, to learn about our native and invasive lizards! This hands-on experience will allow participants to learn the habits, diets and unique adaptations of these scaly critters.
FAMILY OWL PROWL
Tuesday, August 27, 7 - 8:30 p.m.Families/all ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)

Join our team of naturalists as the sun sets and observe the natural transition from diurnal to nocturnal critters. Participants will meet some of our nocturnal animal ambassadors and learn about other animals that prowl our forest after dark in ONC's Pine Flatwoods, as we look and listen for wildlife, with a waning crescent moon to light our way!
