Chairman Higgins and Chairman Green Subpoena Documents on Missing Children of the Border Crisis

Oct 2, 2024| Immigration, Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), Chairman of the Border Security Subcommittee, joined House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green to issue a subpoena to Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), demanding documents and information on the screening and vetting of "sponsors" who took possession of unaccompanied alien children (UACs) from the Biden-Harris administration.

According to an August 2024 DHS OIG report, more than 291,000 UACs have been released into the interior of the United States. As of May 2024, those children have yet to receive an immigration court date, while another 32,000 who did receive a court date never showed up for their hearings. The Biden-Harris administration has "lost track" of over 200K illegal immigrant children, and Congress has been given no assurance that these children are safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor.

Congressman Higgins recently introduced H.R. 9654, the Stop Alien Children Trafficking Act, consistent with DHS OIG recommendations, to hold the Biden-Harris administration accountable. The bill embraces the reforms delineated in the report issued by DHS IG Joe Cuffari, who has himself been relentlessly targeted by the Biden/Harris/Mayorkas border disaster Executive Branch for investigating and reporting the extreme failures and criminal actions of the Mayorkas DHS.

"The number of unaccompanied minors that have crossed our southern border under the Biden-Harris administration's watch is unconscionable," said Congressman Higgins. "We, as elected representatives, have an obligation to reveal full truth to the American people, and the White House has obstructed Congress at every turn. They're hiding the truth. It's abhorrent. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant children are missing, and we demand answers."
