U.S. Senate Unanimously Passes Rosen-Backed Bipartisan Resolution to Commemorate National Community Policing Week

WASHINGTON, DC - This week, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution that Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce to commemorate the first full week of October as National Community Policing Week. The bipartisan resolution recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement and underscores the importance of community policing. Additionally, the resolution encourages collaboration between civilians, law enforcement agencies, and public servants to find solutions to improve public safety, strengthen community relationships, and build trust.

"Nevada's law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep families across our state safe, including by strengthening the bonds between them and local communities," said Senator Rosen. "Last year, I had the honor of being accompanied to the State of the Union by a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer who has been using innovative outreach strategies to reach the Latino community in Las Vegas. These law enforcement officers deserve our utmost respect and gratitude, which is why I'm proud to help pass this bipartisan resolution to honor their courageous work promoting strong relationships between agencies and the communities they serve."

Senator Rosen has been working to support Nevada's law enforcement community and ensure it has the resources it needs. She announced that a bipartisan bill she backed to fund family support and mental health services for law enforcement officers passed the Senate earlier this month. Senator Rosen also held a press conference to highlight nearly $1 million in federal funding she helped secure to provide mental health training to law enforcement officers and first responders. She also announced more than $6 million in federal funding she helped secure for Nevada law enforcement, criminal justice, and public safety projects across the state was being delivered.
