BLM seeks input on proposed land transfer to Walker River Paiute

WALKER RIVER, Nev.-The Bureau of Land Management is taking public input on a proposal to transfer approximately 173 acres to the Walker River Paiute Tribe, to be held in trustby the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The transfer would add to the Walker River Paiute Reservation located north of Walker Lake in Mineral County and about 22 miles north-northwest of the town of Hawthorne.

"This proposed action demonstrates BLM's ongoing efforts to support the needs of the Walker River Paiute Tribe while fulfilling its responsibilities as a steward of the nation's public lands," said Kim Dow, Carson City District Manager.

Public comments are welcome through August 7, 2024.
