Campbell University added a sixth North Carolina community college to its Assured Admission Program Monday when President J. Bradley Creed signed a formal partnership with nearby Johnston Community College.

Joined by JCC Vice President of Instruction and Chief Academic Officer Marc David, Creed signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will offer students currently enrolled at the college in Smithfield an "assured entry" pathway to Campbell upon completion of their two-year associate degree. The University's Assured Admission Program guarantees admission to students who meet specified academic criteria from participating schools, simplifying the application process and providing a clear pathway for their educational journey.

Campbell President Dr. J. Bradley Creed said he is impressed with North Carolina's community college system, especially workforce development programs offered throughout the state.

"I'm particularly impressed with our neighbor, Johnston Community College," Creed said. "I've gotten to know President [Dr. Vern] Lindquist over the last year, and I'm grateful we can form this partnership. The transfer pathway enables JCC students to become prospective Campbell students. They're able to become a part of our academic community while still being firmly rooted in their courses at JCC."

In addition to academic support, students admitted through the program have access to various campus events, including athletic competitions, symposiums and cultural activities.

David attended the signing ceremony on Monday on behalf of Lindquist and expressed the college's appreciation of the partnership.

"It's a great opportunity for our students, and we hope it'll open the door for more opportunities in the near future," David said. "We offer a special thank you to [Campbell University Executive Vice President] Dr. John Roberson, who started this conversation back in the spring. His hospitality and the work by his staff have been really appreciated."
