Mukhutdinova singles weekend headlines Tarleton State Tennis’ weekend in Boone

BOONE, N.C. - Tarleton State Tennis completed its second fall event at the Mountaineer Hidden Duals this past weekend.

Junior shined in the Texans' North Carolina trip, having a perfect 3-0 record in singles. Mukhutdinova defeated singles opponents from Mercer, Queens and App State.

After winning two out of three matches in doubles against Mercer, the Texans captured victories in six of its eight singles matches. Junior won her fourth consecutive singles match in the fall season with a victory over Mercer's Lea Kozierowski 6-1, 6-2.

Only losing two games to Mercer's Tea Zivic in her straight sets victory, Mukhutdinova continued the momentum against Queens and defeated Jett Coetzee 6-3, 6-1. Mukhutdinova, who enters her second season for the Texans after transferring from UTSA, completed her undefeated singles weekend with a victory over App State's Cassidy Carlson 6-1, 6-1.

"Although we had many highlights, I think Adeliya came through this weekend and played three very competitive matches," head coach said. "She is showing steady improvement and I am excited to see her compete again at the end of the month."

Tarleton State swept action against Queens, winning two doubles matches and five singles matches. Junior won her fourth singles match of the fall season with a victory over Queens' Andreea Onitoiu 6-2, 6-2. Senior won her second singles match in Boone, North Carolina, when she defeated Lucy Hogan of Queens 6-4, 6-4.

The Texans combined for 12 singles victories and four doubles wins in the Mountaineer Hidden Duals.

"I am extremely happy with how the team competed this weekend," Douglas-Miron said. "Although we didn't win every match, we learned a lot about our team identity and what we need to work on in order to be ready for the spring."

The Texans will no longer compete in the Diving Eagle Invitational Sept. 20-22 in Denton, Texas. Tarleton State's next event will take place in Abilene, Texas, for the Wildcat Invite starting Sept. 27.
