The NSW Government welcomes the report and recommendations handed down by the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

The seven-volume Final Report contains 122 recommendations that were tabled in Federal Parliament yesterday afternoon.

The NSW Office for Veterans Affairs (OVA) is currently working on the next iteration of the NSW Government Veterans Strategy 2025-2030, due to be launched in 2025, and the important findings of the Royal Commission will help inform the strategy.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Commonwealth for establishing the Royal Commission, and also thank the many witnesses who provided testimonies to guide these recommendations.

The horrific trauma of suicide can only be truly understood by the loved ones of victims.

I know that many in our community have experienced the loss of a family member who served in our Defence force, and I would like to thank you for supporting our veterans, and

I thank our veterans for their service.
