Everyone welcome at Saluki Open Pickleball Tournament Sept. 6-8

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Pickleball has quickly become one of the country's most popular and fastest growing sports, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Recreational Sports and Services expects hundreds of people from across the nation will be on campus Sept. 6-8 for the 2024 Saluki Open Pickleball Tournament.

The fourth annual outdoor tournament will take place at the Saluki Courts on Marion Rushing Lane. The event is open to ages 12 and older of all skill levels. Participants typically come from as far away as California.

Spectators and media outlets are welcome to enjoy the action.

Here's the schedule, including start times with finish times to be determined by how long play lasts:

• Friday, Sept. 6, starting at 5 p.m. - men's and women's singles.
• Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at 8 a.m. - men's and women's doubles.
• Sunday, Sept. 8, starting at 8 a.m. - mixed doubles.
