Mississippi Student Achievement Again Reaches Historic All-Time High

JACKSON, Miss. - Governor Tate Reeves today announced that Mississippi student achievement has again reached an all-time high.

According to newly released results from the 2023-24 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP), students have now achieved record results in mathematics, English Language Arts, and science.

"Parents, students, and teachers continue to make history in the classroom, and they are helping to uplift our entire state" said Governor Tate Reeves. "Mississippi is growing stronger in virtually every area, and education is no exception. I'm proud of the work our state has done to get us to today. We'll continue doing everything we can to prepare Mississippi kids for meaningful careers after graduation."

The news is the latest in a string of education victories for Mississippi. Mississippi's high school graduation rate is currently better than the national average and at an all-time high. Per the Mississippi Department of Education, since 2013, Mississippi's national Quality Counts ranking for K-12 achievement improved from 50^th to 35^th. Additionally, in 2024, the Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT® Data Book ranked Mississippi 30th in the nation for education, the state's highest-ever ranking.
