The City of North Port is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a vibrant new mural at the Community Education Center, 4940 Pan American Blvd., on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m.

This project, initiated by the City Commission and guided by the Art Advisory Board, was approved in September 2023.

Local artist Laura Pucci created the mural "Florida Native Butterfly Garden." It features local flora and fauna and celebrates the natural beauty of North Port and surrounding areas.

The total cost of creating the mural, including labor and supplies, was funded by the Public Art Fund, which receives contributions from local businesses and developers. No taxpayer dollars were used.

"We're thrilled to unveil this beautiful addition to our Community Education Center," North Port Mayor Alice White said. "This mural beautifies our city and reflects our community's appreciation for nature and the arts."

The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and be among the first to view this new artistic landmark. Light refreshments will be served, and the artist will be present to discuss her work.
