August 12, 2024 - The City of St. Petersburg's Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program has returned for a third funding cycle and applications are open now through Sept. 9, 2024. Neighborhood and business associations can apply for funding of up to $10,000 to plant trees in their community.
The Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program is designed to provide shade trees in approved rights-of-way and street-facing front yards. Previous funding cycles of the Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program have enabled more than 70 shade trees to be planted throughout communities in St. Pete.
Applications are open now and will close on Sept. 9, 2024, at 5 p.m., with the goal of tree planting taking place in October and November 2024.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
The requesting party is a registered neighborhood or business association with the City of St. Petersburg.
The association has no outstanding previously approved grants with the City of St. Petersburg, with the exception of an award from round two of the Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program.
Tree planting projects must be completed within 12 months.
Trees must be planted in the approved right-of-way or on street-facing private front yards with no utility conflicts.
The trees used must be approved species.
Letters of support from appropriate City departments are required for planting on City-owned property.
Applicants can find the full eligibility information, application resources, and the application at www.stpete.org/TreeMiniGrant. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2024.
