UW’s The Big Event Changes Format for Volunteer Service Program

The University of Wyoming's 11th annual The Big Event -- a student volunteer service project in the Laramie community -- will take place Saturday, Oct. 19, with a new format.

Sponsored by UW's Service, Leadership and Community Engagement (SLCE) office, The Big Event is an opportunity for UW students to say "thank you" to the greater Laramie community through service.

This fall, volunteers will complete service projects directly with nonprofit organizations across the Laramie community. In a change from past years, The Big Event will not accept requests from individual residents and businesses. With appreciation for the relationships built through this model, the SLCE office staff acknowledges that the latest change presents a change in tradition in the community.

The theme of UW's The Big Event has always been appreciation to the Laramie community, and the SLCE office staff is excited to focus the program toward the organizations that support and enrich the community throughout the year.
