LOS ANGELES - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) joined Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Mayor Karen Bass, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA), and Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) to discuss how federal support for Los Angeles Metro's project to remove barriers to transportation will benefit Los Angeles County. The project received $139 million in federal funding that will go towards improving and expanding affordable, reliable, and safe transportation options for people throughout Los Angeles County. Congressman Lieu and his colleagues previously wrote a letter of support to the Department of Transportation outlining how beneficial this funding would be for Los Angeles County and its residents.

"I was pleased to join Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Mayor Karen Bass and members of the Los Angeles Congressional Delegation today to highlight the $139 million in federal funding going towards efforts to expand LA Metro's efficient and reliable transportation options in Los Angeles County, particularly for those living in underserved communities. This funding will enable Metro to increase transit options for LA County commuters and visitors, meet critical sustainability goals, and improve mobility ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Metro is now able to expand services like bike share systems, bus only lanes, mobility hubs, and EV charging stations, among other improvements, to communities that have previously had a dearth of reliable transportation options. Creating newer, faster, and more affordable ways to get around will benefit our neighbors' quality of life and create new economic opportunities. I am grateful for the city, state, and federal support provided to help make Los Angeles County a leader when it comes to inclusive and cutting-edge community connectivity."
