Man Shot in Chinatown-International District

Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Chinatown-International District neighborhood.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., 911 Dispatch (CARE) received a report of a shooting in the 400 block of South Jackson Street. Officers arrived and found a 42-year-old man suffering from a gunshot graze wound to the leg.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived and provided aid and the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.

A witness stated the victim was involved in an altercation with a 34-year-old male suspect shortly before the shooting. The suspect fired a round into the ground, and it ricocheted and grazed the victim in the lower leg area. The suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Officers on attempted to contact the suspect at his apartment with negative results.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives will be leading the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. The suspect has been identified but is not in custody at this time.
