On Monday, November 11, at 6:16 a.m., the Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to 509 29th Ave. N. for a report of a structure fire. The caller reported fire coming from a bottom apartment unit.
When the first fire crew arrived, they reported smoke and fire showing from a ground-level window. A second alarm was called for additional resources. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of crews arriving on scene. The fire was confined to the unit of origin; however, the apartment sustained significant damage.
All occupants were evacuated, and one individual was transported to a local medical facility with injuries that were not life-threatening. A damage estimate is not yet available, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck company, two command vehicles and one fire investigator. Fire crews were assisted by The Fargo Police Department, Sanford Ambulance and the Salvation Army.
The Fargo Fire Department would like to remind everyone to ensure they have working smoke detectors in their home and to never go back into a building after evacuating from a fire.
