City of Killeen releases video to introduce Police Community Engagement Unit

KILLEEN, Texas (Sept. 18, 2024) - The City of Killeen has launched a new video to introduce and share the vision of the Police Department's Community Engagement Unit and Homeless Outreach Team.

The unit focuses on building strong relationships between law enforcement and the community, working to erase the negative stigma surrounding law enforcement, and giving people a chance they never had before.

The Unit is headquartered in Historic Downtown Killeen and they are at most community events, especially those located in historic downtown. They also organize outreach programs, and educational sessions, visiting area schools; and running youth camps. This unit plays a crucial role in addressing community concerns, specifically in the downtown area, working with housing and downtown businesses to promote crime prevention strategies, and assisting the homeless and other disadvantaged groups in our community.
