Quique Girones Named New UW College of Business MBA Program Director

Quique Girones

Quique Girones, who brings extensive global business experience, has been appointed as the new director of the University of Wyoming College of Business Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program. He began his duties July 1.

Girones brings a dynamic vision to his new role, promising to further elevate the MBA Program's reputation and impact. He has worked with companies on three continents and in many cities, including Barcelona, Spain; London, England; Glasgow, Scotland; Montevideo, Uruguay; Miami, Fla.; and New York City. He also has visited or worked in more than 70 countries, giving him a wide-ranging global business perspective.

Outgoing MBA Program Director Ben Cook will continue his contributions to the UW College of Business as senior assistant dean. His leadership has been pivotal in establishing the program's current strength and success, says Scott Beaulier, the H.A. True Dean of the College of Business.

"My duties are evolving to become fully responsible for the MBA Program. This transition has been well planned and implemented with Ben's support," Girones says. "His leadership has been instrumental in allowing me to transition and learn from the firm foundation of the MBA Program."

Cook also emphasizes the importance of this transition for the program's future.

"As we continue to execute our strategic plan, we will leverage Quique's international experience and visionary leadership to further enhance our program offerings and relevance in the global business landscape," he says.

Girones is fluent in three languages and has studied in Spain, the United Kingdom and the U.S., which has aided in his understanding of the importance of embracing diversity, being open-minded and seeking global knowledge, he says.

"This experience has given me perspective on the value of pragmatism, which I can bring to the MBA Program and the classes I instruct," Girones adds. "My main goal is to continue building on our foundation, which is based on leadership, character and impact. We aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are fearless in exploring and discovering new ways of doing business through the lenses of business knowledge, global thinking and entrepreneurship."

Girones also highlights the transformative nature of the MBA Program.

"We are changing lives. We are helping to mold students to be the future of Wyoming, the U.S. and the world. We are creating leaders of this fantastic world that is constantly changing," he says. "Our international trips, master classes, Executive Fridays, Jackson Hole Leadership Summit, extensive business network, outstanding classes taught by excellent professors and our College of Business and university leadership all contribute to creating true leaders."

"We are delighted that Mr. Girones has agreed to serve as our new MBA Program director. His close work with Dr. Benjamin Cook the past few years will ensure that our rapidly growing MBA Program will remain in steady and strong hands," Beaulier says. "We are excited to see what Mr. Girones' international and corporate experience will bring to the program and hope the growth we are witnessing in enrollment as well as the quality of our student job placement remains strong."

Under Girones' leadership, the MBA Program will continue to thrive and produce graduates who are well prepared to make significant contributions to the business world, he adds.
