Washington, DC - Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:
Throughout the 118th Congress, Representative Yadira Caraveo served Colorado's 8th Congressional District with grit and grace. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Congresswoman Caraveo made history as Colorado's first Latina Member and has been a principled and courageous leader in the Caucus.
Rep. Caraveo has spent her entire career serving her community as a pediatrician and then a Member of the Colorado House of Representatives. As a Member of the House Agriculture Committee and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets and Rural Development, she worked hard to address dangerous drought conditions in Colorado, support farmers and rural communities and protect our water and the nutrition programs that fight food insecurity.
Yadira's story embodies the American Dream. She will be deeply missed by her colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus and we all wish her well as she continues her life-long journey in public service.
