Cedar Falls Public Safety and Target Host Safety City

Cedar Falls Public Safety was proud to once again partner with the Target Distribution Center to host 'Safety City,' an annual educational event for area kindergarten students. The program was held in the parking lot at the Target Distribution Center from September 10 through September 13.

Over 500 kindergarteners including students from the Cedar Falls Community School District and St. Patrick's Catholic School attended to learn about fire safety, calling 911, first aid, stranger danger, electrical safety, and railroad safety.

Cedar Falls Public Safety partners with the Target Corporation, Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch, MercyOne, Cedar Falls Utilities, and Iowa Northern Railway Company to bring this public educational event to the community. The program and related materials are funded annually through a grant from Target Corporation.

Cedar Falls has hosted the Safety City program since 1968 with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
