GE Aerospace and National Airlines Announce Agreement for GE90-110B Engines to Power New Boeing 777F Cargo Airplanes

FARNBOROUGH, England - July 22, 2024 -GE Aerospace (NYSE: GE) and National Airlines have signed an engine sales agreement for eight GE90-110B engines to power four Boeing-777F cargo airplanes.

"We're honored our GE90 engines will power National Airline's new 777F airplanes and be a key part of their growth plans. The GE90 and 777F are a winning combination in cargo operations," said Russell Stokes, President and CEO, Commercial Engines and Services, GE Aerospace.

The GE90 engine family powers all Boeing 777 models and is the exclusive powerplant on the 777-300ER, -200LR, and Freighter. The GE90 engine features several technology firsts, including carbon fiber composite front fan blades, the world's largest front fan at 128 inches in diameter and the world-record setting thrust of 127,900 pounds during certification testing.

"Outstanding performance and reliability are hallmarks of the GE90 engines," said National Airlines Chairman Chris Alf. "As we expand our fleet to meet growing cargo demands, our order for more GE90-powered 777 Freighters demonstrates our continued confidence in the aircraft-engine combination. National Airlines has incredible experience with GE Aerospace as we own 30 CF6-80C2B1F/B5F 747-400 engines."

GE Aerospace has continued to invest and improve the engine, enhancing its compressor, combustor, and high- and low-pressure turbine components to reduce weight, improve fuel efficiency, and enhance durability. This has resulted in:

  • 3.6% reduction in fuel burn from initial launch specification
  • 60% improvement in time on wing
  • World-class 99.98% reliability rate
