Iran calls for urgent OIC meeting on Israeli crimes

Iran has called for an urgent meeting of the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to deal with the Zionist regime's crimes in Lebanon and Palestine.

Iran has called for an urgent meeting of the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to deal with the Zionist regime's crimes in Lebanon and Palestine.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has underscored the importance of unity and solidarity among Islamic states in backing the Palestinian people's rights at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's annual foreign ministerial meeting.

He referred to the challenges facing the Muslim world, saying "The Islamic world is at a critical juncture and is facing a series of serious challenges, especially the Palestinian issue, which continues to be our main priority."

Gharibabadi noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the founding members of the OIC, has always backed efforts by Islamic nations to deal with the main challenges and to pay special attention to the Palestinian issue.

He said, "Iran once again announces its unconditional support for the Palestinian cause and the restoration of the indisputable rights of the Palestinian people through the formation of an independent Palestinian state in the entire occupied territories with the Holy Al-Quds as its capital and its full membership at the United Nations."

The deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran's proposal that all Palestinian people, either those who live in their homeland or those who are away from their home, should decide on their future through a referendum.

Gharibabadi expressed hope that sustainable peace can be achieved through this mechanism in which Muslims, Christians and Jews can coexist in peace and harmony.

The Iranian diplomat also said the Zionist regime's illegal and illegitimate existence is based on the assassination and killing of innocent people.

He stated, "The terrorist activities of the regime are not confined to Palestine and Lebanon. The regime recently carried out terrorist attacks on Iran's diplomatic missions and martyred the leader of Hamas in Iran in a terrorist move. This regime is a threat to regional and international peace and security. Its brutality and crimes should be halted. "

Concluding his remarks, considering the need and significance of dealing with the Zionist regime's aggression in Lebanon and also the special situation of the people in Gaza, the Iranian deputy foreign minister on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran proposed an immediate extraordinary meeting of the OIC member states' heads of state.
