AUSTIN, TX (October 7, 2024) - The Texas Farm Credit District, in partnership with AgFirst, CoBank, and Farmer Mac, have committed over $315,000 in relief aid to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Farm Credit Bank of Texas and affiliated associations within the Texas Farm Credit District, spanning across Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas, collectively have contributed $112,250. United through a common mission and purpose, the Texas Farm Credit District, AgFirst , CoBank , and Farmer Mac serve rural communities, agribusinesses, and agricultural providers with financial and other services. Relief aid from these institutions will be donated to the American Red Cross to support the impacted communities.

Hurricane Helene swept across the southeastern United States, including many areas where Farm Credit affiliated associations operate, causing widespread and catastrophic damage. Many communities in its path were devastated, with both people and businesses displaced, and left without clean water or power. The funds contributed will help support efforts by the American Red Cross in delivering and distributing essential aid to those affected.

In addition to the funds provided by AgFirst, CoBank, Farmer Mac and the Texas Farm Credit District, Farm Credit System employees nationwide are also making contributions to the Farm Credit System Employee Relief Fund . The relief fund is a standing program available to all Farm Credit employees experiencing financial hardship due to natural disasters and other catastrophic events.
