Program Geared to Generate 500,000 Meals Each Year for the Hungry

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (October 2, 2024) - The Meal Recovery Coalition, spearheaded by the nonprofit Share My Meals, was recently highlighted in New Brunswick. The coalition's goal is to "recover" 500,000 meals each year that would have otherwise gone to waste and redistribute them to feed New Jersey's hungry.

This ambitious plan seeks to unite corporations, hospitals, educational institutions, government entities, nonprofits, and designated volunteers for the common goal of battling food insecurity through curbing food waste.

It is estimated these meals would feed 6,400 people per week.

The coalition has seven founding corporate members, including New Brunswick-based Johnson & Johnson. They have pledged to use their combined funding, expertise, and surplus meals from their cafeterias to make food recovery a common practice throughout the state.
