Icheon C&T Purchases Additional Automatic Refuse Vehicles Equipped With Allison Automatics

SEOUL, June7, 2024 - Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions for commercial and defense vehicles, today announced that environmental company Icheon C&T recently purchased additional Hyundai Mighty and Hyundai Pavise automatic trucks.

After purchasing Mighty automatic and Pavise automatic refuse trucks equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions in 2021, the company was highly satisfied with their level of convenience, durability, efficiency and productivity.

"When collecting and transporting household waste, we often have to drive through narrow alleys and make frequent stop-and-go movements, but automatic vehicles are easy-driving and less tiring," said Jin-seok Gong, CEO of Icheon C&T. "Our employees are extremely satisfied, some even said fully automatic transmissions are less tiresome even after driving tens of kilometers a day."

Icheon C&T currently operates refuse vehicles in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. These vehicles usually move 10 to 30 meters at a time to load trash bags placed in apartment complexes or alleys. Due to frequent stops, manual vehicles are difficult to drive in these environments. Additionally, manual vehicles require continuous gear shift and clutch operation.

"On the other hand, Allison-equipped fully automatic vehicles are convenient to drive as drivers only need to adjust the brake and accelerator while keeping eyes on the road ahead," said Gong. "In addition, our accident rates are very low. Our employees are very happy with the vehicles' safety and convenience."

Allison's credibility in the refuse truck market is based on the many advantages of fully automatic transmissions. Drivers of automatic trucks experience less fatigue because they don't have to operate gears and clutches. Fully automatic transmissions offer durability and productivity that allow fleets to collect more refuse in the same amount of time.
