The Monmouth Vicinage will celebrate National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 22 at 9:30 a.m. in the jury assembly room of the Monmouth County Courthouse, 71 Monument Park, Freehold.
Family Division Presiding Judge Robin J. Stacy will give opening remarks. Judge Stacy and Superior Court Judge Teresa Kondrup-Coyle will preside over 10 adoptions. The children will be treated to breakfast and family activities before proceedings begin.
The program is co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), the Monmouth County Surrogate's Office, and Court Appointed Special Advocates of Monmouth County.
Information about the adoption process will be available. Attendees will be able to speak with staff from the surrogate's office and DCP&P about adopting children in foster care. Those interested in becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent should call 1-877-NJFOSTER.
National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions and celebrate families who adopt. The event seeks to raise awareness of the need for adoptive homes and to show appreciation for caregivers who choose to adopt.
