TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Two-Way Traffic Detour Leading Up to the 4300 Block of Paris Avenue

NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans today announced that Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor Murphy Pipeline Contractors, LLC will be performing a lane closure on the lake-bound side of the 4300 block of Paris Avenue starting Monday, Aug. 26 through Monday, Sept. 30 to accommodate utility work as part of the Filmore South Group D project. The river-bound lane of the 4300 block of Paris Avenue will allow two-way traffic flow. Local traffic will be accommodated to enter and exit the neighborhood at Mandolin Street and Owens Boulevard.

Signage and traffic control measures, such as barrels and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians. Motorists are advised to use caution during this time as road closures and detours will be in effect. Residents and businesses in this area have been notified of the closure through a neighborhood canvass.

The $17.5 million Filmore South Group D project was designed by C.H. Fenstermaker and Associates, LLC and is being constructed by Murphy Pipeline Contractors, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewage, water and drainage lines, as well as rebuilding the street entirely and repairing sidewalks and curbs.  In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by Spring 2025, weather permitting.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 206 projects at an estimated value of $959 million. Today, 34 roadwork projects are under construction at an estimated value of nearly $685 million.
