SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 13, 2024 - Greenberg Traurig, LLP Tax Practice attorneys Nikki E. Dobay , Bradley R. Marsh, Shail P. Shah & Catalina Baron will present Greenberg Traurig's GeT SALTy end-of-year SALT webinar Dec. 18 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. PST.
Shah will provide an overview of state and local tax cases that were decided in 2024 and discuss important cases that are expected to be decided in 2025, and Dobay will discuss State & Local Tax (SALT) policy issues that have developed over the past year as well as SALT trends that are expected in 2025. Marsh will provide an update on relevant property tax issues, and Baron will discuss Texas SALT issues that should be on everyone's radar.
Dobay is nationally known for her deep experience and understanding of state tax policy and the legislative process. She advises her clients on sophisticated multistate tax issues as well as the consequences and planning opportunities related to corporate mergers and acquisitions transactions. She oversees state and local tax controversy matters, ranging from audits to appellate litigation, and involving sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, property taxes, and constitutional issues.
Marsh is co-managing shareholder of the San Francisco office and serves as a co-chair of the U.S. SALT Practice. He focuses his practice on tax controversy matters, including property, sales, payroll, business license, employment, franchise, parcel, district, documentary transfer, transient occupancy, utility user, income, parking, gift, and estate taxes. Marsh represents clients in audits, litigation, and administrative hearings, and analyzes transactions and business models, developing strategies for legislative resolutions.
Shah has been helping clients address California tax problems for more than 15 years. His clients range from Fortune 25 companies to high-net-worth individuals. Shah focuses his practice on complex California tax planning and representation in front of the California Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Taxation and Fee Administration, Office of Tax Appeals, Board of Equalization, and various administrative and judicial adjudicating forums at both the state and local levels. He provides advice on both proactive residency planning and residency audit defense.
Baron works out of the firm's Houston office and has experience with income, franchise, sales and use, and property taxation issues. She represents clients through all stages of tax controversy and also advises on the tax aspects of transactional matters. Baron has advised clients on issues arising in initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and reorganizations.
