The power plants you don't expect: support against disease

Increasingly - all over Italy, and for a wide variety of reasons - our power plants are at the center of attention and participation on the part of communities, associations, companies and institutions. Not hidden worlds, but real places that are open and accessible to civil society, that are part of their communities and that work and produce for them.

As we've seen, there are many energies that intersect in our plants: there's renewable energy, of course, which is our business. But there are also energies from associations that deal with social issues that make our plants a truly integrated and participatory presence in the areas that host us.

Starting over, one step at a time

Among the many initiatives that take place at our plants, let us tell you about the walk organized by the ANDOS Association's Valdarno Aretino Committee: starting from the square in Levane (Arezzo), it reached our hydroelectric power plant in Acquaborra at the end of the morning, where refreshments were laid out to welcome the participants, who were then able to visit the plant.

It was a way to get to know each other and this important organization: ANDOS (Associazione Nazionale Donne Operate al Seno: the National Association of Women who have had Breast Surgery related to breast cancer) is a national non-profit organization that supports patients and public initiatives to raise awareness - among patients and non-patients - of the importance of sharing information about breast cancer with others in order to overcome the difficulties that those affected are forced to face.

In particular, the Valdarno Aretino committee - which is its local branch - holds fundraising campaigns to provide resources and support for the psychological and physical well-being of women affected by breast cancer, including activities like color therapy, rehabilitation, physical activity and dancing.

And walking: one step at a time, walking while meeting each other, getting to know each other and recognizing ourselves in one another, perhaps even on the crest of a dam, such as the Levane dam, a historical presence immersed in an area of great natural beauty. Because Enel Green Power is - and wants to be - a presence that's part of and for the areas where were are, not just one that has an impact "on" them. And we'll continue to tell you about it, one installment at a time.

Until next time!
