Special Olympics Family Festival: Looking for volunteers for a fun-filled experience

Anyone aged 15 and up is welcome to volunteer for a day of rewarding fun!

MATTOON, Ill. - Aug. 5, 2024 - Consolidated Communications (NASDAQ: CNSL) and the volunteer board of Special Olympics Family Festival (SOFF) are now seeking volunteer sign-ups for the 41^st event on Saturday, Sept. 21.

SOFF brings together hundreds of Special Olympics Athletes from across east Central Illinois for a day filled with joy. Throughout the event, Athletes and their volunteer Friend-for-a-Day participate in a wide range of activities, including non-competitive games, live music, dancing, karaoke, a parade, hayrides, and so much more.

"Special Olympics Family Festival is a life changing event for our Athletes and our volunteers," said 2024 SOFF Board Chair Laura Connerly. "SOFF is such a rewarding experience, you see volunteers come back, year after year to be here on the third Saturday in September. Volunteers and Athletes build real friendships that last for decades. It's an event that you have to experience to really understand."

Volunteer positions include staffing activities, setting up and tearing down stations, and of course the most coveted position: Friend-for-a-Day. Friend-for-a-Day volunteers spend the day with an Athlete, making memories throughout the day's events and activities. Friend-for-a-Day spots are open to volunteers aged 16 and up.
