Temporary Closure Planned Next Week for Nighttime Work on Sassafras Street Extension

In order to complete drainage work in connection with the Bayfront Parkway Improvement Project, there will be nighttime closures on Sassafras Street Extension in the City of Erie next week.

The roadway will be closed daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM beginning Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 23, 2024, weather permitting.

The closure will be in place from the intersection with the Bayfront Parkway (Route 4034) to the intersection with Front Street.

Access to the waterfront businesses on Sassafras Street Extension will be available through the detour posted using State Street and Front Street when the closure is active.

Work will continue on Sassafras Street Extension following the nighttime closures and drivers should remain alert for lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers.

Additional lane restrictions and traffic shifts remain in place on the Bayfront Parkway near the intersection of Sassafras Street Extension as construction continues on the future roundabout at that location.
